Greetings Friends,
I am pleased to endorse Margot Hoerrner for the office of Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner ANC1B11. As you may be aware an ANC consists of elected representatives from neighborhood communities that advise the District government on issues relating to zoning, social service programs, health, police protection, sanitation, and recreation.
As a new comer to Washington, Margot has already demonstrated a commitment to her community by immersing herself in issues like public safety and housing. Margot will work to serve the interests of residents with new energy, with a fresh new approach to build coalitions and work collaboratively toward an improved revitalized community.
Margot is committed to bring safety back to our streets – to encourage responsible economic development – to provide educational and recreational facilities for our children. Margot is an effective communicator and a creative, results-oriented problem solver.
As an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner I know about the personal sacrifice it takes to serve. I am certain Margot will provide residents with dedicated quality service and I am delighted to endorse her for the office of ANC1B11.

In the upcoming election to fill the ANC 1B11 seat of the late Raymond Wright, I am endorsing
Margot Hoerrner. Because Margot has only lived in the neighborhood for a few months, you
may wonder why I would support her. Here’s why.
Margot is a very together person. I have been in regular contact with her right from the time she
settled in, and she has impressed me with the kind of person she is. Margot reached out to me and
wanted to get together and talk about the neighborhood. We met and she asked all kinds of
questions about the area, wanting to hear all about this neighborhood. In turn, I learned about a
person who could have picked anywhere to live, but chose Washington, DC and this area in
particular because she thinks this neighborhood has great people and a cool community.
Margot is already involved. She may not be here long, but she’s already jumped in and is
contributing to what we have as a neighborhood. From the time I heard about her, Margot was
learning about what is going on all around the neighborhood and wanted to know what she can
do to help out. And she wasn’t just talking. Margot has already started helping me with a major
project that will have a tremendous impact on housing quality, will reduce crime, and encourage
positive development in ANC 1B11 that will focus first and foremost on benefiting the people
who currently live there and not developers and other outsiders looking to cash in.
Margot brings critical skills to the position of commissioner. From her work with the Friends for
the World Food Program and other places, Margot offers significant organizational skills. And I
can tell you from my time as commissioner, few skills are more important to getting things done.
But she also brings heart, a heart that cares about people, especially people who tend to be
forgotten or who tend to get the short end of the stick. Add to her organized mind and caring
heart an ability to communicate with all kinds of groups and people. Put it all together and ANC
1B11 is going to have someone who can make good things happen.
So why am I supporting Margot Hoerrner for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner? Because
she is going to get things done. She is going to be there for the neighbors she represents. She is
going to make a positive difference for her community.
I very much look forward to working with Margot.
