ABOUT MARGOT
Born in Flemington, NJ, I was raised in the New York City area, and Toronto, Ontario, where I worked hard and succeeded in the area public schools. I attended Bennington College, in Bennington, Vermont, studying Education and Music, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1991. Most recently, I completed a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, where I focused on leadership, negotiation and public service.
My professional background, spent exclusively in the nonprofit sector, has been varied and deeply satisfying, leading with compassion to serve those who have needed a voice.
My career has included seven years teaching music to learning disabled students; developing an interpretive sign system for the City of Philadelphia, sharing the city's rich history and culture with residents and tourists; serving as the first Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; working in the Tsunami relief and recovery in Aceh, Indonesia, helping families piece their lives back together; and now as the Director of Outreach and Community Partnerships for Friends of the United Nations World Food Program, to raise awareness about hunger and poverty worldwide. I am moved to do work that has a positive impact in the communities around me.

In 2007, I bought a house in LeDroit Park. I am here to stay. I love the area, and am deeply committed to the community. Listening to my neighbors has shown me that we all care about the same things: public safety, education, economic development that benefits the community, among other things.
I know I have the energy, experience, and leadership to effectively listen to and represent the interests of the residents of ANC Single Member District 1B11.
